That he again volunteered under Capt. Adam C. Jones Samuel Roseman Lieut. and rendezvoused at Holmes’ old field from there they went to Barkers Creek where Major Williamson was promoted to a Col. who commanded the expedition, that they marched into the Cherokee Nation of Indians up to Keowee River to a place called Sugar Town that they had several engagements with the Indians, cut down and destroyed much corn burnt several towns & drove the Indians from the frontier settlements that Andrew Pickens (afterwards General Pickens) acted as a Major in this service, that he resided in Abbeville District when he entered this service and was out on this occasion about five months when he was discharged
